Well when I turned 18 I some how missed it that I was supposed to sign up for selective service. Today I signed up, and I’m now on the list of people who will be drafted if the draft opens. I feel honored and a bit used, but mostly honored that they would chose me to defend America during a time of need! So this is for you America….

Getting Ready For Summer!

Getting ready for summer is probably my favorite thing to get ready for. No more school, cold weather, and early sunsets. This summer I am going to be in Holland Michigan for 2 weeks, Roach Missouri for 1 week, and Corvallis Oregon for 1 week. It’s gonna be tough being away from my wife Kassie, but the ministry moments I have been blessed to be partnered with is well worth it! The nice thing is that the weeks I am home this summer I will just plain be…. well home.

Can’t wait to start school again…

Well I am officially enrolled back in school for the Spring Semester at MSSU! I have enrolled as a Computer Information Science Major. I seriously can’t wait to start! I took the year off and it was the perfect thing for me to get things fresh again with school. I had gotten a little burnt out, but hopefully in 2 years I’ll be completely done with school, and programming the next best thing in technology!

It’s good to be home….

Well its been 2 days since I’ve been back in town at a place I like to call home. Relaxing, and just spending time with my wonderful wife who is an incredible support to our ministry the “Jordan Howerton Band”. It’s nice not to have to be creative and think about what break, or hook needs to be in each song. It is just nice to to veg… and be home. I can’t wait for the NFL Kick off tomorrow at 12:00, and watch my Fantasy team be the valiant champs for the 4th week in a row, but more important than that I can’t wait to go to church with my wife, and worship our Lord and Saviour together with the body of christ.

Lately I’ve been on a journey to capture glimpses of the fruit of the spirit in my everyday life challenging myself to be more fruitful and righteous. I have been using Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

Well let me be the first to tell you that I fail everyday in my quest for producing fruit. I have found myself reading this passage, and more like it simply stating the black and white requests and ways of life that is complete truth spoken from Jesus’ breath. So I ask that you join with me and expect better from yourselves. Don’t just read and listen, but put what you learn into action, and transform your earthly nature of anger to a peace that can only come from our God and King. James 1:19-24 “My dear brothers, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about righteous life that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you . Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”

So like my parents would always say to me growing up. “Know who you are, and what you are.” So with that said I choose not to forget who I am and what I am. I am a being that has the privilege to connect with and dwell with it’s holy and powerful creator. A being that could not possibly be loved more than I already am, and will do everything I can to put into action the requests of my KING to give him the honor, praise, respect and glory that is rightfully due to him.

Thus far I am completely humbled to be a man that God has decided to use for the expansion of his Kingdom. I never thought in a million years that I would actually be the bass player up on stage at a CIY event! I remember just 3 years ago thinking…. man if I could just be the bass player at CIY my life purpose would be fulfilled, and I would overflow with happiness because I would be famous!…. Well 3 years later I’ve played at CIY, and guess what…. I DRIVE A 1992 HONDA ACCORD, and on top of that I’m not famous! With all of that to say I discovered that I have gained more joy understanding that weather on stage in front of 2,000 people, or in line at a fast food joint that jesus’ fame and glory is the only thing that matters. Not my own, but his, and he deserves every bit of fame and glory this life has to offer. He has given me a wife I fall more in love with everyday, food and shelter, the gift of my next breathe, and most important an all access pass to my creator… what more could I need?
